Benue State Police command said on Monday that 59 persons have been arrested in connection with the recent cult – related crises in some parts of Makurdi, the state capital.
Several people were injured and property worth millions of naira destroyed during the crises.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Moses Yamu, disclosed this during chat with journalists in Makurdi.
He said the command has already deployed additional personnel to the affected areas to restore peace and order.
The PPRO said the suspects would be charged to court at the end of investigations.
He advised Makurdi residents not to panic as security operatives are in control of the situation.
